I was born and raised here in Phoenix, Arizona. My entire childhood I had only ever wanted to be a baseball player, or a veterinarian. It wasn’t until senior year of high school that I had started to draw more in my free time. After graduating, and I had to chose my classes for Glendale Community College, it came down to 2 choices; science, or art. After some thought of my future, i soon started taking my first drawing class.
That class consisted mainly of still lifes. To learn the basics of shape, form, line, and contrast. By the end of the semester in 2016 I finished this silver tea set still life that got published in GCC’s art book “The Traveler”. It also was the only one in the class to compete in, if i remember correctly, was called Artists for Promise. After what my drawing accomplished it had solidified in my heart that I wanted to be an artist and live my life as one.
Which finally brings me to how i started my apprenticeship in 2018. After i decided to become an artist, I asked myself how i would survive as an artist. While walking to the bus stop I saw some street shop on the corner and said fuck it lets go see what tattooing is about. Considering I had never even thought about getting a tattoo myself I had no idea what was right from wrong. That first place was as ghetto and unsterile as it gets. After 3-4 months I had left (was fired for asking too many questions). It was some time later until I discovered Divinity Tattoo and started studying under Paolo Acuna for 4-5 years. During that time, up through today, I have taken many classes and open studios. Learning how to accurately paint, or draw, a model, or set, in a reasonable amount of time. I always want to continue to learn and explore new ways to draw and paint, for then I can apply it to my tattoos and commissions. Lately I have been enjoying plein air paintings and the pathways that offers.
Now 7 years into tattooing, I am reminding my clients that I offer more than just tattoos. That daily I work on my craft as a whole in every regard, because my artistry means so much more to me than being another run-of-the-mill-tattoo-artist. For there are so many ways to capture the memories of our hearts
